3 units of 16.6 MW hydro turbine and generator are installed at the hydropower plant for renewable power generation, displacing power supplied by the existing fossil fuel-fired power plants.

Under the full and continuous operation, the project can generate and supply approximately 180,800 MWh of net electricity to Yunnan Power Grid per year and in turn contribute to local’s sustainable development. In addition to the compliance of the Clean Development Mechanism, it has been externally audited as being compliant with World Commission on Dams criteria for large hydro projects.

The project has started the major construction in 2006 and has been in commercial operation since August 2009.

  • Compliance with World Commission on Dams standards

The project has been externally audited as being compliant with World Commission on Dam’s strict social and environmental standards.

  • Issuance of carbon credits

Five carbon credit issuances were successfully granted by the UNFCCC, with the first and last issuances approved in May 2010 and June 2013 respectively. It is certified that the project has contributed to 427,570 tonnes of CO2 emission reductions up to the end of 2012.
